NordSur is Nordsur OÜ, a company registered in Estonia, and we carry out the work remotely. Buying from us works exactly like buying a service from any other EU country. Here is precisely how it goes, with the official sources so your accountant can check every line.
How we invoice you
You receive an invoice with no VAT added. Under the reverse charge the invoice must not show a VAT rate or a VAT amount. It carries our Estonian VAT number, your Finnish VAT number and the marking the Finnish Tax Administration requires, Reverse charge, VAT Directive art 44. You can verify our VAT number yourself in the EU VIES service before you pay anything.
What you do with it
You report the VAT on your own VAT return and, on that very same return, you deduct it, provided you have the normal right of deduction. The net effect is then zero. It is the same routine entry your accountant already makes for any service bought from another EU country.
What you never have to do
Because our work is carried out outside Finland, your company does not withhold the 13 % tax at source from our invoices. That obligation applies to work performed in Finland. There are no permits to request, no separate registration and no special paperwork at your end.
